Home tests & kits

After your visit you complete two test kits at home and log your daily life in the 10K app for two weeks. Here's each part in turn.

Kit 1 of 2 · stool

Stool sample kit

A gut-bacteria sample, taken about 2 weeks after your visit — 2–3 days before your scheduled courier pickup. It's stable at room temperature for several weeks; no fridge or freezer needed.

Step-by-step

  1. 1
    Empty your bladder first

The sample must not be contaminated with urine.

  2. 2
    Keep the sample clean

Avoid any contact with urine or toilet water.

  3. 3
    Open the purple cap only

Don't open the yellow cap; it holds the preservative liquid.

  4. 4
    Place a pea-sized sample on the X

Just rest it on the spoon's tip; don't push it inside.

  5. 5
Close & shake for 1 minute

Close the purple cap firmly, then shake so the liquid mixes in.

  6. 6
    Store at room temperature

Stable for several weeks, no fridge or freezer needed.

  7. 7
Log the sample in the app

Mark the sample date and the Bristol-scale value (1–7) in the 10K app.

Kit 2 of 2 · sleep

Sleep monitor

A home sleep lab that checks for sleep apnea over 3 nights — they need not be consecutive.

How it works

  1. 1
    Wear it for 3 nights

They don't have to be consecutive nights.

  2. 2
    Finger probe on any finger

Remove nail polish first for a good reading.

  3. 3
    Refresh parts between nights

Replace the battery, finger probe and chest-sensor sticker.

How do I use the sleep monitor?

When should I take the stool sample?
Take it about 2 weeks after your visit, 2–3 days before your scheduled courier pickup. Don't take it if you're on antibiotics (wait 3 months after finishing) or have recently had a colonoscopy (wait 2 weeks). The sample is stable at room temperature for several weeks.
How do the kits get picked up?
